The three stunning islands of Port-Cros, Porquerolles and Le Levant certainly live up to their name as the Golden Islands! These three wild and unspoilt stretches of land off the Giens peninsula boast remarkable landscapes and heavenly beaches. The perfect destination for anyone who likes to hike, boat or simply relax in style, these islands are popular with tourists and include a national park which is protected and managed by the French government. Porquerolles, the largest of the islands, is home to a number of interesting buildings, including the Château Sainte-Agathe, the Fort de la Repentance and the Cap d’Arme lighthouse. With plenty of natural springs, Port-Cros boasts lush vegetation and charming fishermen’s houses. Le Levant is the closest island to Le Lavandou and is known for its vast military area (which isn’t open to the public) and naturist beaches and holiday resorts.
Le Lavandou is a lively town with all the typical charm of the Var. If you’re in the mood for some retail therapy or keen to pick up a holiday souvenir, you’ll find plenty of shops in the town centre. Walks along the seafront are accessible to all, including families with young children. You can also try scuba diving and water-skiing or enjoy the beaches which stretch along the coastline. Visit the local markets to see some of Provence’s traditional products or join a guided tour of the centre of Le Lavandou.
In Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, just fifteen kilometres from your hotel Les Flots Bleus, explore a vast and one-of-a-kind area of natural beauty! On a twenty-hectare estate protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral, at the foot of the Massif des Maures, wander around as you marvel at the scenery, the plants and the worlds created by the landscaper Gilles Clément. The Mediterranean Gardens will transport you to some of the world's most arid climates, before bringing you back to the shores of the Mediterranean and then whisking you off to the subtropics. In a single visit, you’ll cover almost every region of the planet, all on foot.
There’s a cycle path which runs right by Les Flots Bleus, linking Saint-Tropez and Hyères: it couldn’t be easier for keen athletes to take advantage of this safe cycle route to explore the Var on two wheels! Admire the magnificent scenery, the coastline which is renowned for its beauty and extraordinary natural surroundings. If you’d rather spend your time walking, we recommend taking the Promenade des Crêtes. At the top, enjoy breathtaking views of the coastline and the natural world. It’s not to be missed!
